A Salt Lake Love Story
On February 2, 2022, Kari and Aaron will stand in front of family and friends to renew their vows and to celebrate a love that has persevered through years of sickness and trial.
Kari and Aaron first met on blind date in college. After meeting in August, they were married in December. They soon began to expand their family.
n 2015, Kari started to notice some changes in her breast. While they were slightly concerning, she didn’t think much of it. After some time, however, the breast became engorged, and she went in to get it checked out. Sadly, her mammogram revealed the worst. Kari was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer.
We loved meeting Kari and Aaron and learning about their sweet story. Although they married young and admit that they hardly knew each other, their relationship has grown throughout the years, and they have seen each other through many dark days and come out the other side much stronger.
A 50th Anniversary Wish
On August 29th, 2021, Belinda and Mike stood before their family and friends to celebrate their love and to renew their vows after 50 years of marriage.
Belinda and Mike have such a beautiful love story. They first met in school, when they were just 14 and 16 years old. As Belinda tells it, Mike left for the summer after 9th grade as a shy, chubby kid and returned 2 months later, a tall, handsome 10th grader. They fell for each other right away and started dating. Two years later, on February 12, 1971, they were married and set off on a journey that has included two children and now four grandsons
In 2012, Belinda began experiencing some concerning issues with memory and time and started having some disturbing hallucinations. As her symptoms continued to progress, they sought the help of a neurologist. After extensive testing, Belinda was sadly diagnosed with Lewy body dementia, a progressive condition similar to Alzheimer’s disease that results in horrendous hallucinations, loss of short-term memory and a decline in movement.
We absolutely loved granting Mike and Belinda’s wish for a vow renewal and were so touched by all of the many wish granters who helped to pull it off.
A Tribute to Ron
On January 9, 2022, Jennifer and Ron gathered with family and friends at the iconic Grand Traverse Resort and Spa to renew their vows after 40 years of marriage.
Jennifer and Ron met at a Memorial Day party when they were just 17 years old. They hit it off immediately and started dating. The next year was a blur as they graduated high school, got married and welcomed their first baby.
Jennifer and Ron spent the next four decade raising a family and enjoying their life in northern Michigan. This past year, however, Ron started to experience some unexplained health issues. He was waking up with swelling in his chest and decided to go it checked out. Ron was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer. He immediately began an aggressive chemotherapy and radiation treatment program to try to shrink his tumor and prevent his cancer from spreading.
Sadly, Ron’s lost his battle this Monday, just 2 weeks after his and Jennifer’s touching vow renewal wish.
It was honor to have gotten to know Ron and to see the visible love that he had for his precious Jennifer. We will be forever grateful to Alicia Fritz and the entire A Day in May team for their tireless work in creating these lasting memoires for our sweet couple.

In February of 2020, just before the pandemic hit, Neil started experiencing severe stomach and back pain. Initially he thought that it was acid reflux, but after his doctor ran several scans and tests, he was given devastating news. Neil was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

Karen and Dan first met online in 2013. They connected and began to chat and get to know each other. When they finally decided to meet in person, they hit it off, talking for more than four hours. It wasn’t long until they fell in love and moved in together. They were married in 2017.

It was when Karen and Dan were going through the IVF process to have a baby that she noticed a lump in her breast.
