A Tribute to Ron

On January 9, 2022, Jennifer and Ron gathered with family and friends at the iconic Grand Traverse Resort and Spa to renew their vows after 40 years of marriage.

Jennifer and Ron met at a Memorial Day party when they were just 17 years old. They hit it off immediately and started dating. The next year was a blur as they graduated high school, got married and welcomed their first baby.

Jennifer and Ron spent the next four decades raising a family and enjoying life in northern Michigan. This past year, however, Ron started to experience some unexplained health issues. He was waking up with swelling in his chest and decided to have it checked out.

At first, Ron’s doctor diagnosed his swelling as a benign reaction to allergies. Although, within in a short time, the swelling increased and Ron needed to go to the emergency room. It was there that a cat scan revealed a massive tumor in his lungs. Ron was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer. He immediately began an aggressive chemotherapy and radiation treatment program to try to shrink his tumor and prevent his cancer from spreading.

Sadly, Ron’s lost his battle with cancer this past Monday, just 2 weeks after his and Jennifer’s touching vow renewal wish.

It was honor to have gotten to know Ron and to see the visible love that he had for his precious Jennifer. We will be forever grateful to Alicia Fritz and the entire A Day in May team for their tireless work in creating these lasting memories for our sweet couple.

From start to finish, the day was simply a dream.. From the gorgeous color scheme, chosen in honor of lung cancer awareness, to the breathtaking florals, lovely ceremony music and exquisite decor, Jennifer and Ron basked in their love for each other and were treated to the wedding they had always dreamed of. The Grand Traverse Resort and Spa pulled out all of the stops to shower our couple with blessings. As the snow fell outside the floor to ceiling windows, Jennifer and Ron and their guests dined on delicious food, enjoyed touching toasts and listened to all of their favorite country tunes.

Thanks to Alicia’s expertise and guidance, we were treated to some of the very best vendors throughout the region. A million thanks to this generous, kind and extraordinarily talented crew.
