A Tribute to steve
On December 13, 2022, Shelly and Steve gathered before friends and family to renew their vows. From start to finish, it was a wish that we will never forget.
Last fall, Steve started experiencing sudden weight loss, coupled with extreme fatigue. He was not acting like his usual spunky self and Shelly started to worry. Before long, he started experiencing frequent vomiting. He went to the emergency room where a cat scan revealed the worst. He was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer that had spread to his liver, pancreas, and stomach lining. He underwent aggressive chemotherapy to try to slow the progression of his cancer, but his cancer progressed. Steve passed away in his sleep just hours after his gorgeous vow renewal to Shelly.
A chelsea, mi wish
On June 14th 2022, Christy and Brandon stood before family and friends to renew their vows after 11 years of marriage.
In the summer of 2021, Brandon started having trouble taking deep breaths. He works construction for his job and assumed that he had pulled a muscle or something. As his symptoms progressed, he decided to go get checked out by his doctor. A scan revealed a large amount of fluid in his lung. After further testing, he learned that the fluid was cancerous and that it had spread to his lymph nodes.
Brandon underwent a targeted treatment plan, which included numerous painful procedures to have the continuous fluid drained from his lungs. Thankfully, he has responded well to his treatment and is feeling strong.
An Akron wish
On April 28, 2022, Stacey and Brian gathered with their family and friends to renew their vows and to celebrate more than twenty years of marriage.
3 years ago, Stacey started experiencing some significant digestive issues, coupled with crippling nausea. While she was initially diagnosed with appendicitis, she knew something else was terribly wrong and was persistent in asking for more extensive testing. She eventually underwent a colonoscopy, which revealed a neuroendocrine tumor in her intestines. Sadly, she was diagnosed with cancer in her rectum, ovaries and lungs.
Stacey has endured a series of very difficult surgeries and treatments related to her cancer and has struggled tremendously. We loved meeting this beautiful couple and were honored to grant their wish for a vow renewal.

In 2020, Teresa went in to have her first colonoscopy. She had been working as a special ed teacher and was experiencing some unexpected weight gain. Sadly, her doctor discovered a very large tumor inside her colon. She was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer that had metastasized to her liver. She underwent a very difficult treatment plan that included multiple surgeries and incredibly aggressive chemotherapy. Teresa is currently a part of a clinical trial and is doing her best to find joy and hope in each day.
An Orlando Wish
On April 27, 2022, Yvette and Tyrone gathered before friends and family at the beautiful Margaritaville Resort to unite their lives in marriage.
Yvette and Tyrone went to high school together but didn’t know each other. It wasn’t until they found themselves in a 20th anniversary reunion group on Facebook that they connected. Yvette was going through a painful divorce and was excited to meet new friends. She sent Tyrone a message and they started talking and hanging out. Although she was struggling with cancer at the time, Tyrone was supportive and empathetic.
In January of 2021, however, Yvette was on a zoom call with her son’s school and suffered a massive seizure. Thankfully, the woman on her zoom called 911 and Yvette was rushed to the hospital. The cancer had returned and had metastasized to her brain. She began an aggressive chemotherapy regiment to try to slow the progression of her disease. In the fall of 2021, Yvette and Tyrone got engaged while on a vacation at the beach. Soon after, they discovered that they were pregnant with their first child. She had to unfortunately stop treatment during her pregnancy and gave birth to a beautiful baby boy in July. Yvette is actively fighting her disease, with her family by her side.
A Chicago Wish
On March 11, 2022, Lissette and Carlos stood before loved ones to renew their vows after ten years of marriage.
Carlos and Lissette first met when they were just 12 years old in elementary school. They used to pass notes back and forth to each other but never really talked. They ended up getting to know each other in 8th grade but didn’t start dating until their junior year. After high school, Carlos went away for college, but the two stayed together and were married at a courthouse right out of college.
We loved meeting this adorable family and were honored to grant their wish for a vow renewal.
We’ve teamed up with our Kirsten and Olivia at Olive Fine Weddings and Events and were blown away by the gorgeous day that they planned.
A Dayton Wish
On February 20, 2022, Demeshia (Demi) and Tim gathered with loved ones to renew their vows at the gorgeous Dayton Art Institute.
Demi’s health issues began when she was just 19 years old. A mysterious dark circle appeared on her arm and while her doctor initially didn’t think it was anything to be concerned about, later testing revealed that it was systemic scleroderma. Overtime, Demi’s scleroderma has advanced considerably and has resulted in continued complications, including the amputation of five fingers and one toe, as well as hypertension and blood pressure issues.
We loved granting this wish for Demi and Tim and were so incredibly thankful for the hard work of our amazing team, led by Fallon of Blank Canvas Weddings.
A socal wish
On February 17, 2022, Sara and Felix gathered with loved ones to renew their vows on a beautiful, sun-soaked, southern California day.
In December of 2018, Sara started experiencing some concerning stomach issues. After multiple trips to the doctors and numerous tests, she was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer that had spread to her liver and her abdomen.
Sara has endured more in the past few years than any young, vibrant person should. Despite painful surgeries, difficult treatments and brutal side effects, Sara has not lost her spark for life and her love for Felix has only deepened.
We were honored to grant this wish for Sara and Felix and were humbled by the outpouring of love from our incredible team.
A South Florida Love Story
On December 12, 2022, Shelly and Steve will join with dear friends and family to renew their vows and to celebrate a heartbreakingly beautiful love story.
Shelly and Steve first more than 10 years ago. They were both working at the same restaurant when Shelly fell on hard times. She and her children needed to move out of their current living situation and had nowhere to go. While they barely knew each other, Steve offered his home to them for free.
A few months ago, Steve started experiencing some sudden weight loss, coupled with extreme fatigue.
A SoCal love story
On December 7, 2022, Christine and Ashon will join with loved ones to renew their vows and celebrate their love with their children.
Christine was first diagnosed with cancer right after graduating from college. She had been in a serious car accident and started to feel a lump in her chest shortly after. She went to doctor and while she initially told that the lump was likely an infection, a biopsy revealed something worse. She was diagnosed with stage 3 invasive ductile carcinoma. She underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation. In 2017, her cancer returned and metastasized to her spine and bones and she is actively in treatment.
Christine’s current treatment has taken quite a toll on her body and she continually deals with pain, infections and extreme fatigue. We’ve loved getting to know this beautiful couple and are so touched by their story. We joined forces with the incomparable Elizabeth Brandon of WINK! Weddings and are blown away by the remarkable team of wish granters that she has assembled for this wish.
