On March 11, 2022, Lissette and Carlos stood before loved ones to renew their vows after ten years of marriage.

Carlos and Lissette first met when they were just 12 years old in elementary school. They ended up getting to know each other in 8th grade and started dating their junior year. After high school, Carlos went away for college, but the two stayed together and were married at a courthouse a few years later.

The couple went on to have two beautiful children and were focused on their careers and Lissette’s graduate school aspirations. A few years into marriage, Lissette started experiencing some pain in her jaw. As the pain worsened, she sought the advice of a dentist who misdiagnosed her with TMJ. Over time, the pain grew so acute that it started affecting every part of her life. She couldn’t sleep or eat and was unable to live a normal life with her family. She finally saw a specialist. A scan revealed a tumor on Lissette’s jaw. She was diagnosed with a rare form of sarcoma and underwent an incredibly complicated 16-hour surgery to have the tumor removed and her jawbone rebuilt. Following the surgery, Lissette had her jaw wired shut for 6 weeks and received radiation treatment.

Because of the aggressive nature of her cancer, Lissette will continue to be closely monitored for any regrowth.

We loved meeting this adorable family and were honored to grant their wish for a vow renewal. We’ve teamed up with Kirsten and Olivia at Olive Fine Weddings and Events and were blown away by the gorgeous day that they planned.

The day was filled with beauty and love. In addition to Lisette and Carlos fulfilling their dream of exchanging vows in the church, the two were treated to a gourmet meal, breathtaking florals, a showstopping city view, a lively dance floor and heartfelt speeches.
