A chelsea, mi wish
On June 14th 2022, Christy and Brandon stood before family and friends to renew their vows after 11 years of marriage.
In the summer of 2021, Brandon started having trouble taking deep breaths. He works construction for his job and assumed that he had pulled a muscle or something. As his symptoms progressed, he decided to go get checked out by his doctor. A scan revealed a large amount of fluid in his lung. After further testing, he learned that the fluid was cancerous and that it had spread to his lymph nodes.
Brandon underwent a targeted treatment plan, which included numerous painful procedures to have the continuous fluid drained from his lungs. Thankfully, he has responded well to his treatment and is feeling strong.
A Utah Love Story
On November 28, 2020, Danette and Mike will join with family and friends to renew their vows after 14 years of marriage and to celebrate an unwavering love story in the face of tremendous storm.
In August of this last year, just as Mike and Danette were preparing to be grandparents, Mike discovered a lump on the side of his neck. He was referred to a specialist but as the months went on, the tumor grew and began to affect his swallowing. He was diagnosed with stage 2 squamous cell cancer of the throat. He underwent intense chemotherapy and radiation, which, although unbelievably difficult, initially shrunk his tumors.
Sadly, his cancer metastasized to his lungs. The last couple of months have been devastatingly hard and this beautiful couple is desperate for a joyful day filled with fun.
A Lancaster Love Story
On November 27, 2022, Krystal and Andy will stand before their children, family and friends to renew their vows after 18 years of marriage.
In June of this year, Krystal noticed a puffy area under her armpit. Her doctor told her it wasn’t concerning but decided to ordered a mammogram and ultrasound. The scans revealed that she had cancer in her breast. She was feeling positive and hopeful, but further scans showed the cancer in her spine, femur, and ribs. She immediately started treatment and is fighting hard for her beautiful family.
A Sarasota Love Story
On November 13, 2022, Lorrie and Tom will stand before loved ones to renew their vows after 21 years of marriage.
In September of 2021, Lorrie and Tom left their son for the first time to go away to St. Petersburg to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary. On the way to their trip, Tom had a headache and started driving erratically. He ended up going to an urgent care and was told that he had a migraine. By the end of the weekend, however, his headache was unbearable. His face had started drooping and he was slurring his speech. Lorrie took Tom to the ER where it was discovered that he had a brain tumor. He underwent emergency brain surgery, followed by chemotherapy and radiation.
A Colorado Love Story
On November 3, 2022, Jonathan and Angie will stand before family and friends to renew their vows and to celebrate a love story that has seen its fair share of ups and downs.
Jonathan and Angie first met in 2014 at a family reunion. They were connected through Jonathan’s sister-in-law and began chatting online. Sparks flew!
They were married a year later and moved to Colorado to start their new life. In 2021, Jonathan started having pains in his stomach, which he assumed were a result of his physically demanding job. Sadly, his doctor discovered a large cancerous tumor in his colon. He was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and began an aggressive chemotherapy regiment. This past April, his cancer spread to his liver. Sadly, Jonathan’s body has not been able to handle his chemotherapy and he has been put on palliative care while trying to soak up precious time with his wife and kids.
An Orlando Love Story - our 200th wish!
On October 19, 2022, Rucha and Jose will gather with loved ones to renew their vows after 10 years of marriage. In addition to being a special day for our beautiful couple, it’s a very special milestone day for our organization as well and its marks our 200th wish!
A New Jersey Wish
On January 31, 2022, Neil and Megha joined with family and friends at The Park Chateau in East Brunswick, NJ to renew their vows and to celebrate a love story nearly 20 years in the making.
In February of 2020, just before the pandemic hit, Neil started experiencing severe stomach and back pain. Initially he thought that it was acid reflux, but after his doctor ran several scans and tests, he was given devastating news. Neil was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
We connected with an incredible planner in Amanda Hudes of Smiling Through Chaos Event and Wedding Planning were blown away with the over-the-top gorgeous day that she created.
An El Paso Love Story
On September 28, 2022, Elisa and Jesus will join with family and friends to renew their vows after 22 beautiful years of marriage.
Elisa and Jesus’s love story began in a very surprising manner. The two were both working at Luby’s restaurant in 1999 but did not know each other and did not interact often. After voting for Elisa in a best costume Halloween contest, Jesus got up the courage to talk to Elisa and asked her to marry him.
The couple spent the next 16 years falling deeply in love, raising kids and building a beautiful life together. In 2016, however, things took a turn with Jesus’ health when he was diagnosed with kidney disease and then cancer.
We have loved meeting this kind and joyful couple and are honored to help them renew their vows.
A Mississippi Wish
On November 14, 2021, Shari and Cornell stood before family and friends on the beautiful grounds of The Dock in Gulfport, MS to exchange wedding vows in a touching, heartfelt ceremony.
Shari and Cornell first met online in 2019. While getting to know one another, they discovered that they both had a lot in common. Both Shari and Cornell were battling cancer. They found comfort `in their shared experiences, soon fell in love and were engaged not long after.
Cornell’s cancer journey began at the end of 2018. He had begun experiencing some troubling digestive issues, which led to shortness of breath and eventually, yellowing of his eyes. It was at this point, that he went to the ER. Scans revealed a concerning mass near his pancreas. A biopsy confirmed the worst. Cornell was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer. He underwent a surgery to implant a stint and a port and endured an aggressive chemotherapy regiment. Sadly, his cancer returned and has now spread to his liver.
This beautiful story has certainly touched our hearts. We were honored to grant Shari and Cornell’s wish for a wedding and were thrilled to bring on Jean McGrury of After the Proposal Events to help us.
