A Chicago Wish
On March 11, 2022, Lissette and Carlos stood before loved ones to renew their vows after ten years of marriage.
Carlos and Lissette first met when they were just 12 years old in elementary school. They used to pass notes back and forth to each other but never really talked. They ended up getting to know each other in 8th grade but didn’t start dating until their junior year. After high school, Carlos went away for college, but the two stayed together and were married at a courthouse right out of college.
We loved meeting this adorable family and were honored to grant their wish for a vow renewal.
We’ve teamed up with our Kirsten and Olivia at Olive Fine Weddings and Events and were blown away by the gorgeous day that they planned.
A Chicago Love Story
On December 4, 2022, Erica and Anton will gather with their loved ones to exchange vows at The Penthouse Hyde Park in Chicago, IL.
Erica and Anton first met and became friends in high school. Although most people thought that they were dating, their relationship was just a deep friendship. When it came time to go to college, they were accepted at different schools. They went their separate ways and lost touch for many years.
They reconnected in 2015 online and hit it off immediately. They picked up right where they left off and have been together ever since. This past year, Anton unfortunately started having some concerning health issues. He went to the doctor and was sadly diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that had spread to his lymph nodes. His doctor is in the process of formulating a treatment plan, which will begin soon after their wish.
A Chi Town Wish
On November 7, 2021, Hillary and Tommy stood before their loved ones to commit their lives in marriage LM Studio in Chicago, IL.
Hillary and Tommy first met online in 2016. They went to a concert together and spent the rest of the evening walking around the city. They soon fell in love and got engaged. While the couple had originally planned to get married in Hillary’s hometown of Columbus, OH, in 2020, they ended up having to cancel due to Covid.
It was around this time that Hillary was awoken in the night with a significant pain on her right side. After consulting with a friend who is a physician, she decided to get it checked out. She was given a CT scan at the urgent care that revealed a cyst on her liver. While it was concerning, they were reassured that it was likely nothing to worry about and were referred to a GI doctor. Unfortunately, an MIR revealed that Hillary is suffering from an extremely rare and intensely aggressive form of cancer that has moved into her adrenal gland.
We were touched by this moving story and were eager to grant a wedding wish for this wonderful couple. We loved working with the incredible planning team at Urban Allure Events, led by Kelley and Conley and were blown away by the beautiful day they created.
A Chicago Love Story
On March 11, 2022, Lissette and Carlos will gather with family and friends to renew their vows after nearly ten years of marriage.
Carlos and Lissette first met when they were just 12 years old in elementary school. They ended up getting to know each other in 8th grade but didn’t start dating until their junior year. After high school, Carlos went away for college, but the two stayed together and were married at a courthouse right out of college.
A few into their marriage, Lissette started experiencing some pain in her jaw. Over time though, Lissette’s pain grew so acute that it started affecting every part of her life. Finally, at the behest of Carlos, she went to see a jaw specialist. Lissette was diagnosed with a rare form of sarcoma. She underwent an incredibly complicated 16-hour surgery to have the tumor removed and her jawbone rebuilt.
Lissette and Carlos are excited to renew their vows and to finally have the wedding they have always dreamed about. We’ve teamed up with our dear friends Kirsten and Olivia at Olive Fine Weddings and Events and are thrilled with amazing group of wish granters that they have brought on board.
A Windy City Wish
On November 7, 2021, Hillary and Tommy will gather before family and friends to commit their lives to each other in marriage and to celebrate a love that has already endured more than many face in a lifetime.
Hillary and time met, as they like to say, “the old fashioned way”, online in 2016. Their first couple dates were spent at a concert and then walking the streets of Chicago getting to know each other. They soon fell in love and were engaged in 2018 while on a snorkeling trip to the Virgin Islands. While the couple had originally planned to get married in Hillary’s hometown of Columbus, OH, in 2020, COVID and cancer had other plans.
We fell in love with Hillary and Tommy and their heartbreakingly beautiful story and simply cannot wait to make this wish come true for them. We brought on a wonderful planning team in Kelley and Conley at Urban Allure Events and have been so impressed by team they have assembled on such short notice.
A Birmingham Wish Come True
Emil and Halie’s have somewhat of a storybook love story. They first saw each other two years ago from across the room at their local cancer hospital. Emil has been struggling with sickle cell anemia since birth and was at the hospital to receive treatment, while Halie was experiencing some health issues of her own and was there to meet with a doctor. While Emil had planned to introduce himself to her after his appointment, he was disappointed to discover that she had already left. As fate would have it, the two matched on a dating app that very night!
Sadly, sickle cell is an uncurable disease and one that causes tremendous pain, fatigue, frequent hospitalizations, routine blood infusions and often, surgery. In Emil’s case, the disease has advanced considerably over the years, causing complications that will require a him to have a hip and shoulder replacement. Despite putting on a brave face and never complaining, Emil fights constant exhaustion and pain and has spent several weeks in the hospital already this year.
We were honored to grant Emil and Halie’s wish for a wedding and loved getting to know them throughout the process. From start to finish, the day was filled with love, laughter and beauty.

In Memory of Josh
We were so lucky to have met Josh and Nikkey and heartbroken that we will not be able to make their wedding wish come true. On May, 13, 2020 Josh lost his battle with cancer, just days before we were set to grant his wish. We are eternally grateful to the generous crew that we assembled for this wish and cannot thank them enough for their creativity, kindness and willingness to go above and beyond – especially during these uncertain times.

Amanda and Sean first met online in the fall of 2017. They had both previously been divorced and were looking to give love a second chance, each with two small children in tow. Two years before meeting, however, Amanda had been diagnosed with a rare and very unpredictable form of cancer known as metastatic neuroendocrine/carcinoid syndrome. She was working at the time and began having some strange health issues, including heart episodes. She ended up going to the hospital during one such episode and underwent a battery of various tests. A biopsy revealed multiple neuroendocrine tumors in her liver. She began radiation to kill the tumors, but they kept popping up in different parts of her body.
Amanda’s cancer diagnosis did not scare Sean. They hit it off on their first date, quickly fell in love and have been together ever since. Throughout the last couple of years, Amanda and Sean’s relationship has weathered a lot of storms. Amanda continues to battle tumors, which develop unexpectedly throughout her body and is currently undergoing chemotherapy injections every 28 days. She has participated in numerous experimental treatment programs in hopes of controlling her eradic tumor patterns, but it all remains a guessing game. In addition to caring for 4 small children, Amanda experiences extreme fatigue and pain on most days.
Wish Upon a Wedding was touched by this young couple’s sweet story and loved granting their wish for a wedding. Amanda and Sean’s wedding marks wish #150 for our organization!
