A Nashville Love Story

On September 12, 2019, Kathy and Tony will gather at The Cordelle, in downtown Nashville, to renew their vows to one another and celebrate a love that has lasted more than 40 years.

Kathy and Tony met on the first day of college when they were just 19 years old. They both played in the same band and hit it off immediately. They were engaged by Christmas of that first year and married the following August. Throughout the next 35 years, they built a life together in church ministry, raised two children and celebrated the birth of five grandchildren.

In 2014, Kathy went in for a routine mammogram. Her mother had died of breast cancer, so she was always very diligent about getting checked. Sadly, the test revealed a cancerous high-grade tumor. Kathy immediately underwent a double mastectomy, followed by chemotherapy. Once her treatment was complete, she was told that she was in remission. Over the next few years, she continued to experience a host of side effects, including some very troubling eye issues.

In July of 2018, she received the news that no one wants to hear. Her cancer had metastasized and had advanced throughout her body. Since her most recent diagnosis, Kathy and Tony have switched doctors and have explored a variety of treatment options in hopes of slowing her disease.

We fell for this couple from the moment we first spoke to them. We were deeply touched by their beautiful love story, abundantly positive attitude and brutal transparency about the hard battle they’ve been fighting. We simply cannot wait to fulfill their wish for a vow renewal.

We teamed up with our dear friend Laurie D’Anne Events and were naturally blown away by the incredible team of wish granters that she assembled. Advanced thanks to this lovely crew:
