A Southfield, MI Wish
On June 5, 2023, Jenny and Patrick stood before family and friends on a gorgeous summer day to renew their vows at the Pearls Event Center in Southfield, MI.
Throughout the next five years, they struggled to have children. They were finally blessed with a daughter and shortly after, a son. While Jenny was pregnant with her son, she felt a lump in her breast. Because of Covid, she went months without the proper testing. When she finally underwent an ultrasound, the results were devastating. She was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer just two weeks before the birth of her son. She was induced, gave birth to her little boy, and immediately underwent surgery and chemotherapy. Her treatment has taken a tremendous toll on her, especially while caring for two little kids and she is facing each day with faith in God and a grateful heart.
A Birmingham Love Story
Emil and Halie’s love story began just over two and a half years ago when they first saw each other across the room at their local cancer hospital. Emil has been struggling with sickle cell anemia since birth and was at the hospital to receive treatment. As fate would have it, the two matched on a dating app that very night and quickly fell in love.
Sadly, sickle cell is an uncurable disease and one that causes tremendous pain, fatigue, frequent hospitalizations, routine blood infusions and often, surgery. In Emil’s case, the disease has advanced considerably over the years, causing complications that will require a him to have a hip and shoulder replacement. Despite putting on a brave face and never complaining, Emil fights constant exhaustion and pain and has spent several weeks in the hospital already this year.
We were incredibly touched by Emil and Halie’s journey and are in awe of the ways in which they have cared for each other and persevered through Emil’s illness. We’re thrilled to grant them this wish for a wedding and hope that their story serves as a beacon of hope for others.
An Austin Texas Wish
On September 17, 2020, Hillary and Mike gathered with family friends on a gorgeous, sun-soaked Austin day to renew their vows at the beautiful Mercury Hall. From start to finish, the day was punctuated with love, light and laughter.
As always, our wishes would not be possible without the generosity of so many wonderful people. We cannot thank our team of wish granters enough – especially during these challenging times – for their creativity, hard work and beautiful hearts. It was most certainly a day to remember.
An Austin, TX Love Story
On September 17, 2020, Hillary and Mike will stand before close friends and family members to renew their vows and to celebrate a love that has persevered in the face of tremendous loss, heartache and sickness.
Two years ago, Hillary began to experience a strange pain in her left arm. She hadn’t been feeling well in general and decided to get checked out. After running several tests, her doctors discovered spots on her lungs and two tumors on her brain. She was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. During her treatments, Hillary experienced numerous complications, including a staff infection and a seizure. Her cancer recently moved into her femur and her hip, making it difficult to walk and move around. She’s currently undergoing a new chemotherapy regiment in hopes of slowing her cancer’s rapid progression.
We couldn’t help but fall in love with Hillary and Mike and cannot wait to grant their wish for a vow renewal.
They Still Do in Lexington
On February 7, 2019, Deborah and Greg gathered with family and friends to re-new their vows after 25 beautiful years of marriage. For the sweet couple, who first met as teenagers, the day was wonderful reminder of the great love they have for each other and the many obstacles they’ve faced together throughout the years.
For the past six years ago, Deborah has been battling breast cancer that has spread to her bones. Despite lengthy treatments and frequent pain, her joy remains. Wish Upon a Wedding was honored to hear Deborah and Greg’s story and to grant them this wish.
