A DC Love Story
On January 15, 2023, Erika and Wendell will gather with loved ones at the beautiful Lorian Hotel in Alexandria, VA to renew their vows after 25 years of marriage.
In July of 2018, Erica woke up with terrible stomach pains. She had always dealt with stomach issues, so she didn’t think much of it. She was under 50 and wasn’t a candidate for annual colonoscopies yet. Eventually, the pain became too much to bear, and she was referred to a gastric doctor. She had a CT scan which revealed a blockage and a tumor. She was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. She underwent surgery and 9 difficult months of chemotherapy. Sadly, this past year her cancer spread. She is currently undergoing more treatment in hopes of slowing the spread of her disease.
A DC Love Story
On November 17, 2021, Amanda and Ronnie will join with family and friends to renew their vows after 16 years of marriage.
Amanda and Ronnie first met while working at the same company in 2004. A year later, the company ended up going out of business and Amanda and Ronnie decided to give dating a shot. Turns out, they were perfect for each other.
In 2018, Amanda was diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer that had spread to her liver. She has been undergoing a rigorous chemotherapy regiment in hopes of stopping the spread of her cancer, while allowing her body to get strong enough to withstand a surgery to remove the mass.
We have loved getting to know this sweet couple and cannot wait to grant their wish for a vow renewal. Amanda and Ronnie were married at the justice of the peace and are so excited to finally have a real wedding
Kate & Shane’s DC Love Story
Kate and Shane first met in 2013. Shane had recently returned from an Army tour in Iraq and Kate, also a veteran, was working on a PHD in public health. The two kept running into each other at veteran events and decided to go out. In Kate’s words, “each time we went out, I was continually surprised by him.” The two became seriously almost immediately and were engaged within a year. Shortly after, Kate landed an interview for a professorship in Charleston and the two stopped at a courthouse on the way there and eloped!
In 2018, at the behest of her doctor, Kate had a routine mammogram. Sadly, Kate’s mammogram revealed the worst. She had three tumors in her breast and lymph nodes. Kate was diagnosed with an aggressive form of heterogenous stage IV breast cancer.
Kate is fighting with all of her might for her sweet little family. We were so touched by her and Shane’s story and cannot wait to help them renew their vows. We brought on board Rebecca Hicks, an old friend of ours, to help and are thrilled with the team that she has brought on board. A veteran herself, Rebecca and Kate have hit it off and we’re looking forward to the amazing celebration tomorrow.
