A New York Countryside Wedding

On September 13, 2020, Patty and Jeremy gathered with friends and family on the gorgeous grounds of Spring Brook Farm to renew their vows and celebrate their beautiful love story. Despite all of the obstacles that one faces when trying to grant a wish in the middle of a global pandemic, Patty and Jeremy’s wish surpassed all of our expectations.

Patty and Jeremy first met as teenagers, 40 years ago, and although they only went on one date and then lost touch, they reconnected years later and quickly fell in love. The two were married and got right to work on starting a family. They became pregnant with twins on their honeymoon and spent the next twenty years raising their children and building a life together.

Their lives suddenly changed in 2018 when Patty was diagnosed with a rare form of carcinoid uterine cancer. She underwent a radical hysterectomy, during which she experienced numerous complications, including a tear in her abdominal wall. She then underwent six weeks of chemotherapy and radiation, followed by brachytherapy. Following her treatments, she was thrilled to learn that she was cancer free. Sadly, her cancer returned just four months later and had moved to her lungs. She is currently back in treatment and doing her best to fight hard and stay healthy.

We were honored to grant Patty and Jeremy’s wish for a vow renewal and were so incredibly thankful for the team of wish granters who came alongside of us. From start to finish, we encountered the most wonderful wedding professionals and were amazed at their ability to perfectly navigate this new world of COVID restrictions. The team was led by our friend, Ali Barone, who truly went above and beyond to make sure that every last detail was thought of. From the breathtaking flowers, delicious menu, gorgeous cake and adorable ice cream truck to the lovely individual hand sanitizers, stunning handmade napkin holders and too-pretty-to-eat cookies, we were blown away by our wish granter’s creative spirits and generous hearts.

Perhaps the highlight of the day was all of the dancing. Ali knew how important music was to Patty and Jeremy and pulled out all of the stops to ensure that a great time was had by all. She enlisted the help of Hal Prince, who sent an incredible band to keep the dance floor rocking. And as an homage to Patty and Jeremy’s original wedding - and their Irish roots - Ali surprised the couple with a tribute by the amazing AOH Orange County Bag Pipers.

All in all, our first wish of 2020 pretty magical. All of our heartfelt thanks to the many fine folks who worked tirelessly to pull this off. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
