Love in the Time of COVID-19

For most of us, the effects of the Corona Virus have been far reaching. For folks like Keith and Laura, who were set to renew their vows in Washington DC on March 19, the virus has brought disappointment and a wave of fear surrounding Keith’s health. While it’s unclear when we will be able to gather again, we’re looking forward to granting Keith and Laura the vow renewal of their dreams.

Keith and Laura first met in 1990 when a mutual friend introduced them. Keith was a few years older than Laura and had been previously married with three young children. The two immediately hit it off and started dating. It wasn’t long before things became serious. They moved to Florida and were married soon after. The couple spent the next twenty years expanding their family, adding three additional children of their own, growing their careers and seeking new adventures, including a four-year stint in Iowa.

In 2018, Keith and Laura left Iowa and moved back to Florida, only to have their lives turned upside down. Keith had begun experiencing some troubling health concerns, including rapid weight loss and food regurgitation. He went to his doctor to get checked out and was sadly diagnosed with stage 3 esophageal cancer. He underwent chemotherapy and radiation and an incredibly invasive surgery to have his esophagus removed.

The past September, Keith’s cancer returned and metastasized, forcing the couple to moved to Maryland to be closer to Keith’s family and to receive treatment at John Hopkins. Despite his often-debilitating side effects, Keith is trying his best to remain upbeat and hopeful. He’s been forced to retire from his long career in roofing, creating a unique switch in roles, as Laura has gone back to work as a paralegal.

We have truly loved getting to know this wonderful couple and cannot wait to grant their wish for a much-deserved vow renewal. We feel incredibly fortunate to have team up with Jessica Ashley Events and have already fallen head over heels for the unbelievable team of wish granters that she lined up.

Thank you all so much, we cannot wait to see this wish unfold - hopefully soon!
