A Seattle Love Story

On May 5, 2019, Kerry and Kiernon will stand before their family and friends to say “I do” again, just as they did nearly 25 years ago. While the past two decades have brought an abundance of joy, they have also been marked continuously with stress and struggle.

Kerry and Kiernon first met while they were both home from college on break. They immediately started dating, fell in love and were married just 10 months later.

Just two months into their marriage, the unexpected happened. Kerry, who had always been fit and athletic, suddenly collapsed while on the treadmill at the gym. She went into cardiac arrest and ended up having to be life-flighted to a nearby hospital. The tests revealed a very serious heart condition which required a surgery to implant a defibrillator in her heart.

Sadly, as a result of her condition, the couple was told that they would not be able to have children. After months of heartache, they found a doctor who was willing to let them get pregnant. Kerry and Kiernon went on to have three sons in the span of three years and then a daughter, seven years later.

Throughout the years, Kerry was able to manage her heart condition with minimal issues, until she had her second major heart episode – 18 years after the first one. She then had another episode six months later and continued to have them as her condition worsened. She was put on a list to receive a new heart and got the call in September of 2017. Unfortunately, during Kerry’s surgery, she suffered major complications, including a debilitating stroke.

The past two years of recovery have been incredibly difficult for Kerry and Kiernon and their family. In addition to spending seven weeks in the hospital, she has had to relearn how to do everything, including driving. Through it all, Kiernen and their four children have been a constant source of love and encouragement.

We simply love this couple and are inspired by all that they have endured and persevered through over the years. We’ve enlisted the help of an amazing team and are thrilled to make their dream of a vow renewal come true.
