An Indy Wedding Wish Come True

On November 14th 2018, Shawn and James recommitted their lives to one in another in a beautiful wedding ceremony at Mustard Seed Gardens in Noblesville, IN. For this sweet couple, it was day to celebrate a love that has endured enormous challenges throughout the years.

Shawn and James’ entire relationship has been marked by cancer. They first met in 2011 when they were both working for the same company. They spent their breaks at work talking and getting to know one another. Before long, they started dating.

Sadly, just four months into their relationship, Shawn was diagnosed for the first time with breast cancer. James faithfully stood by her side while she went through treatment. Just 15 months later, her cancer came back. Again, they tackled the diagnosis together and decided it was time to get married. Not long after their courthouse wedding, Shawn was diagnosed again, this time thyroid cancer.

Following her treatment, the couple moved to Indianapolis to help take care of Shawn’s parents. In 2017, she started to experience some unexplained pain in her stomach. Much to everyone’s surprise, she was told she had metastatic melanoma. Despite undergoing intense treatments and enduring many painful days, Shawn continues to be a beacon of joy to those around her.

Wish Upon a Wedding was touched by this sweet love story and was honored to grant their wish for a vow renewal. We assembled an incredible team of wish granters who blew everyone away with their creativity and generosity. From the chic, rustic decor to the personalized details, live event painter and gorgeous flowers, Shawn and James were treated to a day they will never forget.
