On October 11, 2018, Ashlee and Brett stood before family and friends to commit their lives to one another. For the young couple, the day signified a bright spot in what has been a challenging couple of years.

Ashlee and Brett first started dating in 2014 after being introduced by Ashlee’s brother at a picnic. Since that day, they have been inseparable. Three years into their relationship, Ashlee found out that she was pregnant with their first child together.

While pregnancy is normally a joyful time, Ashlee’s pregnancy turned worrisome after discovering a lump in her breast during her second trimester. While her doctor initially dismissed the lump as likely nothing to worry about, it continued to grow and give her problems. Following the birth of her baby, she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer that had spread to her bones. Ashlee underwent a mastectomy, radiation and oral chemotherapy. She is currently being closely monitored for her cancer and is trying to her best to live each day to the fullest, despite the often debilitating pain in her hips.

Wish Upon a Wedding was honored to grant this wish for Ashlee and Brett and loved taking part in their very special day. From the joyful sunflower décor to the decadent feast and beautiful cake, the couple laughed with friends, danced with their kids and enjoyed a day free from the stresses of cancer.
