An Art Deco Chicago Wedding Wish
Rachel and Alvie first met at a dive bar in 2006. They immediately noticed each other because of their height (she’s 6’6’, he’s 6’7’). He walked over and introduced himself and the two chatted for a while. Two days later, Alvie called Rachel and they immediately hit it off and began a long, committed relationship. In 2013, Alvie had a brain aneurism that ruptured and he nearly died. It was a wakeup call for the couple. After Alvie recovered, they became pregnant with their first child and decided to finally get married. In 2017, shortly after the birth of their second child, Rachel started to have some rib pain and was having trouble carrying her baby around. She had been coughing for months and was beginning to feel worried. By March of 2018, her pain was so unbearable that she went to get checked out. Her scans revealed that she had an aggressive form of breast cancer that had spread to her bones. She has spent the past year receiving a variety of ongoing treatments, including hormone blockers, chemotherapy, radiation and laser treatments. Wish Upon a Wedding was thrilled to grant Rachel and Alvie’s wish for a vow renewal and to celebrate a love that has conquered so much.
A love story that prevails beyond breast cancer in Chicago
Rachel and Alvie first met in 2013. After dating for many years and experiencing a series of dramatic ups and downs, including a brain aneurism and a new baby, they wed in a small, intimate ceremony. Four years into their married life, Rachel began to notice some troubling changes in her body. In addition to a chronic cough, she was suffering from intense rib pain and was struggling to carry their second baby around. Sadly, she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer that had spread to her bones. Wish Upon a Wedding was moved by their sweet story and is excited to grant their wish for a vow renewal.
