A Portland Wish Come True
On June 15, 2021, Pam and Josh gathered with their nearest and dearest on the grounds of the gorgeous Postlewait’s wedding and event venue to unite their lives in marriage.
Pam and Josh first met through friends in 2017. They took their time getting to know one another and as they connected, they found much needed healing in their new relationship. Josh had been medically discharged from the Navy and was struggling with PTSD, while Pam was reeling from the pain of a past abusive relationship. As they continued to care for one another, they soon fell in love. After a year and a half, they moved to be near each other and started a new life together.
In 2019, Pam started having some unexplained extreme fatigue that was interfering greatly with her job. After consulting with her doctor, she was misdiagnosed with narcolepsy. Soon after, she discovered a lump in her breast. While her doctor initially thought it was just breast sensitivity, an ultrasound later revealed a massive tumor. Pam immediately underwent an emergency biopsy and sadly received a heartbreaking diagnosis, triple negative invasive ductile carcinoma. She started an aggressive chemotherapy regiment, followed by a double mastectomy and radiation. Unfortunately, Pam’s cancer has continued to spread. She learned this past October that it is now in her lungs and has since appeared in a tumor in her brain. Thankfully, she was able to have the tumor removed and is feeling a little bit better.
We simply loved meeting this beautiful couple and were so honored to grant their wedding wish. From start to finish, the day was enveloped in love. Our gorgeous bride spent the morning getting ready, while our incredible wish crew, led by Natalie of Carpe Diem Wedding and Events, decorated the beautiful barn and outdoor ceremony site. From the breathtaking florals and linens to the over-the-top homemade BBQ, beautiful cake and sweet, personalized details, our couple was treated to a day filled with laughter and light.
Undoubtedly, one of the highlights of the day came as Pam and Josh were exchanging their vows. While we had a little bit of rain early on in the day, the sun came out and we decided to move forward with an outdoor ceremony. As the ceremony was nearing it’s close, the skies opened up and Pam and Josh and their guests all took cover and crowded together under an arbor of flowers to complete the service in the pouring down rain It was a truly intimate and beautiful moment to watch, as their guests gathered around them in love and support. Soon after, we were all treated to a gorgeous rainbow in honor of Pam and Josh.
We could not have pull off this amazing day without the help of our wonderful, generous and kind wish grantors. Thank you all SO much.
