Lindsay and Johann met through friends in 2010 and were soon inseparable. The couple faced a multitude of hardships during their courtship, including the death of Johann’s best friend, the loss of Lindsay’s apartment due to a hurricane, and in 2012, Lindsay was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Slerosis (ALS).
Her diagnosis drained them physically, emotionally, and financially, but through it all they maintained a loving relationship, filled with adventure, fun and playfulness. They spent a month living in the woods, attended a Buddhist meditation retreat, drove through the back roads of southern Utah, and hosted a pig roast for friends and relatives.
This loving couple faces an uncertain future due to Lindsay’s health. ALS, a degenerative disease, takes an unpredictable course so the couple takes life one day at a time, enjoying every precious moment they have together.
On October 6, 2013, Lindsay and Johann said “I do” in Vermont, thanks to a team of volunteers from Wish Upon a Wedding’s New York Chapter. The wedding was an intimate, rustic affair that reflected the artisitic personalities of the couple. The bride wore a Nicole Miller gown and a wreath of bright blooms in her hair. Their personal ceremony was held outdoors and a casual luncheon followed. Below are some of the photos from the wedding. Photographs by Paige Hiller Photography.
