On Thursday, September 28th, 2017 Tina and Shawn reaffirmed their commitment to each other in a vow renewal ceremony held at the Downtown Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The rooftop terrace made for the perfect ceremony backdrop and guests danced and celebrated under beautiful chandeliers in the ballroom.
Tina and Shawn met over 24 years ago at work. Although, Tina regularly asked her coworkers about Shawn they met through an act of fate. One morning, when Tina was locked out of the office, Shawn was there to help. After that initial meeting, they kept running into each other, and that eventually turned into spending their lunch breaks together and finally to dates. They both say it was really love at first sight.
Tina and Shawn both said that when they were apart all they could do was think about the other. Tina said, “I didn’t ever want him to not be in my life, this is the person I jive so well with”. Shawn says he had similar thoughts and knew he had to marry Tina. He proposed to her on one knee with a flower in one hand and a ring in the other. Tina and Shawn were married in 2002 in small ceremony at a nearby park.
In 2014, Tina started to feel ill constantly. She visited multiple doctors and underwent numerous tests. Finally, in 2015 she was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver, but by this time the disease was in the advanced stages. Tina bravely said, “I know that I am going to die but I want to live as long as I can without giving into it mentally, I want to be the best I can be until it happens”.
Tina and Shawn have been a beautiful example of love, living the vows they took 15 years ago, to love each other in sickness and in health. Tina said, “I haven’t been to anything by myself since all of this started, he has been to every appointment with me, he is such a good listener, he has even come home from work when I needed him”. Tina and Shawn had a wish to recommit their vows to each other surrounded by their friends and family, and that is exactly what they did on September 28th, 2017.
Tina and Shawn shared an intimate first look before the ceremony. Close friends and family lined the rooftop isles. Guests shared smiles and tears of joy as the couple reaffirmed their commitment to each other.
After the ceremony, everyone moved down to the ballroom to continue the celebration with dinner and dancing. The photo booth added another element of fun to the evening and the dance floor was only empty when the bride and groom were cutting the cake.
Throughout the entire day, the love these two have for each other could be seen in the way they looked at each other. Thank you, Tina and Shawn, for allowing Wish Upon a Wedding to share in your love story and be a to be a part of your special day.
