It was 2007 when Heather and her three year old daughter left their home in New England and moved across the country to Las Vegas, Nevada. Here they would be near her brother during their mother’s final years with a terminal illness. Unfortunately, one month before they would move, Heather’s brother was deported to serve in Iraq. They arrived in Las Vegas perplexed and confused, and curious why their journey would take them so far away from the support of their friends and family.

Heather and Chris first met in the workplace during her time in Nevada. She says there was something about him that made every inch of her tingle. He says it was the most endearing thing to watch her blush whenever he came near — something she still does to this very day. From the moment they both met, Heather knew that Chris was the real reason she had come to Las Vegas.

They had been dating just shy of one year when Chris received a job opportunity in Oregon. They made the decision to move to Portland together, though he went first to find them a place to live. Four months later, Heather was diagnosed with breast cancer. Scared and confused, she made a trip to Oregon to find the best possible care. In that single visit, the doctors discovered the cancer had metastasized to her bones and recommended immediate treatment.

Not only was Heather battling cancer, but her mother was still fighting the same disease too.

Chris remained by Heather’s side during the most difficult of times. He took on the responsibility of becoming a father to her daughter, and she is most thankful for him. When Heather’s mother passed away, he was there for her. He will always be there for her, this she knows.

Shortly before contacting Wish Upon A Wedding Northern California (the closest chapter to Portland), Heather learned that the cancer has metastasized to her lungs. No knowing what lies in her journey ahead, she knew that she wanted to celebrate her love for Chris and his unwavering love for her and her daughter, without drama, without stress, and simply in joy.

Heather says that “when you have been diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer, your idea of ‘future’ changes.” Every moment she has with Chris and her daughter is a gift from the Universe.  Since she has no idea what tomorrow will bring, her present has become her future.

Wish Upon A Wedding, Northern California is excited to announce that Heather and Chris will be wed in the coming months at Holman Ranch in Carmel Valley, one of our newest Wish Granters.  Along with our friends and additional Wish Granters at Paradise Catering, Sweet Lauren Cakes, Classic Party Rentals, and wedding planner Shana Goldberg of Simcha Sisters, we are happy to spread a little more joy into this inspiring, yet tearful Love Story.

Lastly, we want to thank Inspire Film Studios for the photos you see here and the amazing Love Story video of Heather and Chris.  Please visit their Facebook Page (www.Facebook.com/InspireFilmStudios) for more information.
