Wish Upon a Wedding

Danae and Derrick are from the same hometown, but they had never been formally  introduced.  They eventually started talking on Facebook and discovered that they only  lived ½ mile away from each other.  They met for lunch and have been together ever since.

The couple soon moved to Columbus because of Danae’s work and school.  Two years later, they were blessed with a beautiful miracle, and named the baby Landon Michael.  What’s so miraculous about Landon is that his mother has Cystic Fibrosis, but he does not.  The doctors had always  discouraged Danae from the thought of ever having children because of her illness, but true love thinks differently.

When Danae was born, her mother was told that she probably wouldn’t live to be older than 18.  Growing up people would spread rumors that she wouldn’t make it to her 18^th birthday and even ask her if she thought she would make it to 18 years old.  At first it would upset her, but then she decided to think positively about her condition and her life.  Even with her share of obstacles and hardships,  pic-lines,  tobramyacin medications, 7 sinus surgeries and constant intestinal issues, Danae believes that having Cystic Fibrosis has made her a very strong person.

She chooses not to take life for granted and her motto is “to live like you are dying”.

The Ohio Chapter of Wish Upon a Wedding was pleased to provide a beautiful wedding for Danae and Derrick in November of 2011.
